SUMMMARY:  
The Production area Lead is responsible for a successful startup of lines, verifying the processing plan and ensuring the efficient day-to-day production in a food manufacturing facility.  The primary objective of Production area Lead is to keep operations running safely, efficiently, and effectively, with a minimum amount of down time in a challenging, fast-paced environment. 
The Lead is to ensure compliance with Absolute safety, quality, processing, and packaging requirements while directing activities of employees assigned to their production lines.
The Lead will also be responsible for the results of their shift and is tasked with meeting all KPI’s and goals in safety, quality, processing, and packaging standards.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Ensuring the safety of employees is your top priority.
  • Ensure all GMP’S and PPEs are being enforced.
  • Responsible for assigning employees to their appropriate lines. 
  • Required to conduct 3 sensory evaluations per week in the QA lab.
  • Reviews production schedule and prepares supplies needed for an efficient production run such as labels, code dates, pallets, packaging materials etc.
  • Partners with the Supervisor to ensure daily staffing levels are met, report all crewing shortages.
  • Ensure all documentation accurately and completed in real time.
  • Verify accuracy of the documentation is correct and completed, prior to submitting to Supervisors office.
  • Maintains a high level of floor presence (85%+) to meet expectations.
  • Control downtime by informing employees of routine interruptions and report any mechanical breakdowns immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and practice cleaning as you go utilizing process improvement methods.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards maintained and hourly check-ins with the GBW’s are met before turning the shift over to the incoming shift.
  • Communicate with the lead on the next shift and review all details of the pass down.
  • Required to train and demonstrate proper procedures and protocol to employees.
  • May complete a variety of routine admin tasks, KPI’s, reports and processing documentation.
  • Responsible for adhering to all food safety, pre-requisite programs.
  • Correct and/or report any food safety and quality related issues to management immediately. 
  • Effectively, professionally, and respectfully communicate information to employees.
  • Notify management of any mechanical concerns, defects, or errors. 
  • Notify management of any employee performance issues.
  • Must adhere and comply with all company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Able to be flexible to work multiple shifts when business requires.
  • Open to working 6 days per week when required.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work area utilizing the 6’s process.
  • Team engagement:  able to provide positive feedback during meetings and trainings sessions.
  • Able to work in a team environment by demonstrating your ability to lead others.
  • All other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Ability to comprehend and learn product and packaging specifications for the department.
  • Ability to comprehend and learn product set-ups for the department.
  • Must be able to understand and follow a production schedule.
  • 3 years bakery experience required.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must be able to read and record written instructions.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with employees and management staff.


EDUCATION:                                                  
 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift to 50 lbs. and shared weight up to 100 lbs.  Occasional exposure to airborne dust, high humidity, and extremes of hot and cold are possible.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
