Summary:      
The primary duties of the Sheet Metal Fabricator are to repair or fabricate replacements for existing parts or assemblies as well as designing and building custom parts and assemblies.  Primary working materials are various steels, however plastics, rubbers, or composites may be utilized as well.

Essential Functions:
  • Work well with others, fostering a team atmosphere.
  • Must adhere/comply with all Company policies, procedures and practices.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Comply with all safety, food safety, and GMP protocols.
  • Capable of dismantling equipment, removing defective parts, performing repairs or fabricating replacement parts, and reassembling without supervision.
  • Possess the ability and willingness to make suggestions on improvements on replacement part substitutes.
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in performing MIG, TIG, and Electric Arc welds in repairs or fabrications.
  • Be proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools and manual repair equipment.
  • Demonstrate ability to design and fabricate custom components utilizing materials including but not limited to: Stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, brass, copper, plastic, and rubber.
  • Proficient in the use of shop equipment including but not limited to: Saws, shears, grinders, drill presses, breaks, acetylene torches, plasma cutters, and welders.
  • Create drawings for parts or assemblies as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with departmental and plant supervision.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
  • Able to read blueprints and mechanical drawings as well as follow directions from manuals.
  • Able to interpret work orders and complete them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read and record written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • May be required to work around energized, moving, or rotating production equipment.



Education:                                         
High School or equivalent. 
Completion of a welding or sheet metal fabrication training program or 7-10 years experience in a custom fabrication role.
