Meiji America is a renowned leader in the food manufacturing industry, dedicated to producing high-quality products that meet the needs of our customers.  We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting the Manager of Human Resources with all human resource-related core functions. The Human Resources Generalist also serves as a business partner to our internal customers.

This position carries out responsibilities in areas such as recruitment and onboarding, employee relations and compliance with employment laws and company policies. The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting organizational objectives through effective HR practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Management of the candidate to employee experience from obtaining job descriptions, recruiting, and onboarding.
  • Ensures all new hires are entered timely in HRIS system and coordinated with Payroll department.
  • Foster a positive working environment by proactively identifying and addressing potential sources of conflict or dissatisfaction.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees, addressing queries, concerns, and grievances.
  • Conduct thorough, unbiased investigations in response to employee complaints or allegations of policy violations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping such as personnel files, attendance records, etc.
  • Oversee job bid process and maintain crewing report.
  • Assist with cultural improvement initiatives, wellness activities, and internal employee engagement opportunities.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or relevant field of study from an accredited university of college, and progressive HR generalist and leadership experience is preferred or the equivalent progressive experience
Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) year previous HR experience.  Must be able to maintain confidentiality and represent the HR department in a professional manner. 
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws governing employment. 
  • Basic knowledge of general HR principles and practices.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Ability to learn and navigate various online websites, databases, and HR systems comfortably and confidently.
Soft Skills:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred, but not required
  • Solid leadership skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Efficiency and accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain open communication with team members, supervisors, and subordinates.
  • Communication Skills (Oral, Written) – able to speak clearly, concisely and accurately to ensure effective department operations.
  • Safety Minded – follows / demonstrates awareness of all safety policies / procedures of self and others.
  • Teamwork / Cooperation – ability to work well with others in a group and cooperate with others.

  •  Ability and willingness to provide exceptional service to our employees and third-party vendors.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • The role seldom requires standing or stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; using hands to lift, handle, or feel; pushing and pulling, and reaching with hands/arms both above and below shoulder level; and often involves walking and sitting
  • Although seldom required, must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs independently with shared loads up to 50lbs with team assistance

Salary: $72,000 to $77,000 per year
